Agreement Between Canada and the European Union on Passenger Data: Referral to Joint Committee

I move:

That the proposal that Dáil Éireann approves the exercise by the State of the option or discretion under Protocol No. 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland in respect of the area of freedom, security and justice annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, to take part in the adoption and application of the following proposed measures:

(i) Proposal for a Council Decision on the signature of the Agreement between Canada and the European Union on the transfer and processing of Passenger Name Record data, and

(ii) Proposal for a Council Decision on the conclusion of the Agreement between Canada and the European Union on the transfer and processing of Passenger Name Record data,

copies of which were laid before Dáil Éireann on 6th August, 2013, be referred to the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality, in accordance with Standing Order 82A(4)(j), which, not later than 14th November, 2013, shall send a message to the Dáil in the manner prescribed in Standing Order 87, and Standing Order 86(2) shall accordingly apply.
