Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Willie Penrose - the need for approval for a secondary school for Kinnegad, County Westmeath; (2) Deputy John Paul Phelan - plans to broaden the use of the licence fee to include funding the development of current affairs and public interest content in the local radio sector; (3) Deputy Timmy Dooley - the need to address the accommodation needs of the Gaelscoil in Kilrush, County Clare; (4) Deputy Eoghan Murphy - the need to task the Fiscal Advisory Council with independently assessing the budget proposals of Opposition parties and Deputies for budget 2016; (5) Deputy Derek Keating - the proliferation of unregulated, unlicensed and uninsured rickshaws in Dublin and other cities; (6) Deputy Frank Feighan - the reason for the delay in opening the ambulance centre in Loughglynn, County Roscommon, and proposals to remedy the matter; (7) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the need to maintain the regional veterinary laboratory at Leggetsrath, Kilkenny; (8) Deputy Brendan Ryan - the need to give effect to Government policy to exempt homes with pyrite from property tax; (9) Deputy Brendan Smith - the threatened closure of the Department of Social Protection offices in Ballybay, County Monaghan, and the impact of job losses on the local community; (10) Deputy Kieran O'Donnell - the need to reverse the decision to remove post-leaving certificate courses from the East Limerick Centre for Further Education and Training, Cappamore, County Limerick; (11) Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin - the threatened closure of the Department of Social Protection offices in Ballybay, County Monaghan, and the impact of job losses on the local community; (12) Deputy Joe Costello - the progress of talks with International Airlines Group on the proposed sale of Aer Lingus; (13) Deputy Clare Daly - the conditions in and management of prisons in view of recent deaths in custody; (14) Deputies Gabrielle McFadden and Robert Troy - the need to secure funding for Westmeath Support Services Against Domestic Abuse; (15) Deputy Mick Wallace - the conditions in and management of prisons in view of recent deaths in custody; (16) Deputy Martin Heydon - the need for faster roll-out of the broadband plan for rural areas; (17) Deputy Dessie Ellis - the delay in allocating housing funding to local authorities; and (18) Deputy Billy Kelleher - the implementation of the national carers strategy in light of analysis undertaken by the Carers Association.

The matters raised by Deputies John Paul Phelan; Willie Penrose; Dessie Ellis; and Gabrielle McFadden and Robert Troy have been selected for discussion.
