Personal Explanation by Minister of State
Yes, with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle. During recent oral questions Deputy Barry Cowen asked about the number of staff in the Private Residential Tenancies Board that had been recruited to establish and administer the deposit protection scheme. At the time I inadvertently said five staff had been recruited. However, I want to correct the record to say the five additional staff have been sanctioned by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. They have not yet been recruited, but the recruitment process is under way. Three additional staff have also been sanctioned for administration and that recruitment process is also under way. I, therefore, apologise to the Deputy. I have written to him about the matter and wanted to correct the record in that regard.
