Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Marc MacSharry - to discuss the memorandum of understanding between the Football Association of Ireland and the Minister with responsibility for sport; (2) Deputy Johnny Mythen - to discuss the recent nationwide increase in dog thefts; (3) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the need to commence the sections of the Public Health (Alcohol) Act dealing with the minimum pricing of alcohol particularly in view of the effectiveness of a similar measure in Scotland; (4) Deputy Thomas Gould - to discuss the imminent closure of Mount Cara House in Blackpool, Cork; (5) Deputy Darren O'Rourke - to discuss a range of issues facing the taxi industry, including the ten-year rule and permit renewals; (6) Deputy Jackie Cahill - to discuss postponement of the public service obligation levy; (7) Deputy Neale Richmond - to discuss funding for sporting groups and organisations in light of Covid-19; (8) Deputies Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire and Kathleen Funchion - to discuss the reopening of adult day services for people with disabilities; (9) Deputies David Cullinane and Mark Ward - to ask the Minister with responsibility for higher education to outline the pathway to a technological university of the south east, to recognise the urgency required given that the south-east consortium is falling behind and to outline what actions his Department can take to move the process on; (10) Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú - to ask the Minister for Finance to discuss the level of dysfunction in the insurance industry and particularly the case of the leisure industry, community groups and community facilities that are being charged extortionate rates or cannot access public liability insurance, and his plans to deal with this devastating state of affairs for businesses and the community sector; (11) Deputy James O'Connor - to discuss traffic congestion on the N25 at Castlemartyr and east Cork; (12) Deputy Christopher O'Sullivan - to discuss the installation of a barrier at Keelbeg Pier, Union Hall; (13) Deputies Martin Browne and Maurice Quinlivan - to discuss the future of Shannon Airport and Shannon Heritage; (14) Deputy Bernard J. Durkan - to discuss provision of inner and outer relief roads in Maynooth, Leixlip and Naas, County Kildare; (15) Deputy Eoin Ó Broin - to discuss the decision not to grant an exemption for pupils to repeat their final year of education in a special needs school (details supplied) in Clondalkin, Dublin 22; (16) Deputy Carol Nolan - the detrimental impact that pupil-teacher ratios are having on schools in the constituency of Laois-Offaly; (17) Deputy Emer Higgins - to discuss increasing the number of GAA games designated sporting and cultural events of major importance; (18) Deputy Pat Buckley - to discuss concerns surrounding plans for a residential development in Waterrock, east Cork; (19) Deputy Mattie McGrath - the rising cost of the Shannon pipeline project; and (20) Deputy Dessie Ellis - to discuss the status of the primary care centre for Finglas.

The matters raised by Deputies Christopher O'Sullivan, Ellis, Durkan and MacSharry have been selected for discussion.
