Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - to discuss steps to ensure there are enough home carers to provide all the home care hours and home care packages approved by the HSE; (2) Deputy Johnny Guirke - to discuss ongoing water ingress in the Boliden lead zinc mine in Navan, County Meath; (3) Deputy Chris Andrews - to discuss the lack of meaningful engagement by St. John’s ambulances in the ongoing independent review into historical child sexual abuse; (4) Deputy Holly Cairns - to discuss progress in ratifying the optional protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; (5) Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin - to discuss the implementation of updated Covid measures in schools in view of recent developments; (6) Deputy Michael McNamara - to discuss paediatric orthopaedics at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh; (7) Deputy John Lahart - to discuss utilising the NTPF to fund child and adolescent psychological and other assessments; (8) Deputies Darren O'Rourke and Ruairí Ó Murchú - to discuss ramping up global supply of Covid-19 vaccines, through TRIPS waiver or other mechanisms, in light of the emergence of the Omicron variant; (9) Deputy Verona Murphy - to discuss when the flood defence scheme for Enniscorthy, County Wexford will be signed off, to protect 236 properties in the town; (10) Deputy Barry Cowen - to discuss ongoing challenges of Ireland's integrated single electricity market in delivering value to consumers; (11) Deputies David Cullinane, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, Rose Conway-Walsh, Mairéad Farrell, Martin Kenny and Claire Kerrane - to discuss the trolley, waiting list, and emergency department crises in the Saolta Hospital Group; (12) Deputy Pat Buckley - to discuss the lack of staff for substitute teacher positions in schools in the east Cork area; (13) Deputies Thomas Gould and Pauline Tully - to discuss the reconfiguration of children’s disability services and delivery of services through children's disability network teams; (14) Deputy Martin Browne - to discuss effective, clear messaging on Covid guidance for parents and families of young children; (15) Deputy Matt Carthy - to discuss the implications of the transposition of EU Regulation 2019/6 regarding veterinary medicines; (16) Deputy Maurice Quinlivan - to discuss plans to ensure that local drug and alcohol task forces remain community led; (17) Deputy Kieran O'Donnell - to discuss steps to extend the roll-out of the safe routes to school programme; (18) Deputy Brendan Griffin - to discuss the need for special status for Irish speaking residential planning permission applicants in Gaeltacht areas; and (19) Deputy Jennifer Murnane O'Connor - to discuss when the assisted human reproduction Bill will be introduced into the Houses of the Oireachtas.

The matters raised by Deputies Cowen; Griffin; Cairns; and Cullinane, Mac Lochlainn, Conway-Walsh, Farrell, Martin Kenny and Kerrane have been selected for discussion.
