Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin - to discuss funding that Government intends to provide for FAI's Euro 2028 bid; (2) Deputies Michael Collins and Mattie McGrath - to discuss increases in fertiliser costs; (3) Deputy Joe McHugh - to discuss the defective blocks scheme and engagement with the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland on building costs; (4) Deputy Duncan Smith - to discuss fundamental financial practices in the HSE and delivery of recruitment and spending targets; (5) Deputy Michael McNamara - to discuss the need to fully reopen the national driver licence service centre, Ennis, County Clare to the public; (6) Deputy Christopher O'Sullivan - to discuss the shortage of neurology nurses in Cork; (7) Deputy Paul Murphy - to discuss increased use of strategic litigation against public participation by developers involved in controversial planning applications to inappropriately discourage communities from legitimately engaging in the planning process; (8) Deputies Pa Daly, Darren O'Rourke and Martin Kenny - to discuss the so-called Heavy Gang and cases featured in RTÉ's "Crimes and Confessions"; (9) Deputy Jennifer Murnane O'Connor - to discuss plans to provide Carlow town with a design two ambulance base; (10) Deputy David Stanton - to discuss recognition of Carrigtwohill and Midleton, County Cork as one education centre for second-level school transport; (11) Deputy Dessie Ellis - to discuss extra Garda resources in Finglas to combat the escalation in drug- and gang-related violence; (12) Deputy Colm Burke - to discuss action to deal with the crisis of sewage treatment facilities built by National Asset Management Agency developers to service housing estates; (13) Deputy Kieran O'Donnell - to discuss a review of income eligibility for social housing under the Housing for All plan; (14) Deputy Eoin Ó Broin - to discuss the Government's plans to monitor and reduce premature deaths of people engaged with homeless services; (15) Deputies Joan Collins and Catherine Connolly - to discuss confirmation that the proposed new national maternity hospital will be State-owned, will be built on State land and will be operated by the State; (16) Deputy Holly Cairns - to discuss reversing the decision to close the early intervention unit at Kilbrittain National School, County Cork; (17) Deputies Ruairí Ó Murchú and David Cullinane - to discuss funding difficulties for healthcare workers selected for a nursing training programme; (18) Deputy Jackie Cahill - to discuss the crisis in the pig meat sector which is faced with rising production costs and falling meat prices; (19) Deputy Thomas Gould - to discuss the continued neglect of infrastructure on Cork’s northside and the unfair distribution of funding; (20) Deputy Maurice Quinlivan - to discuss progress to address overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick; (21) Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire - to discuss the delay in establishing children’s disability network teams in Cork and subsequent service delays; (22) Deputy Brian Leddin - to discuss local government's responsibilities towards climate action in light of a vote by Galway City Council to revoke the trial of the Salthill cycleway; (23) Deputy Matt Carthy - to discuss progress to implement the working paper on challenges to peat supply; (24) Deputies Pat Buckley and Mairéad Farrell - to discuss how resolution can be found in a protected disclosure; (25) Deputy Chris Andrews - to discuss, in the context of the announcement of the sports capital programme last Friday in which over 100 Astroturf projects nationwide will receive funding, the recycling options available for the Astroturf pitches that will be replaced; and (26) Deputy Mick Barry - to discuss the need for more specialised neurology nurses in Cork University Hospital.

The matters raised by Deputies Michael Collins and Mattie McGrath; Cahill; Daly, O'Rourke and Martin Kenny; and Deputy O'Donnell have been selected for discussion.
