Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

We are now in public session. The next item on the agenda is the scrutiny of EU legislative proposals before members today.

The first item on Schedule A is COM (2018) 390, a proposal for a Council regulation on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. It is proposed that this proposal requires further scrutiny by way of requesting the Department to keep the committee updated on developments. Is that agreed? Agreed.

It is proposed that the following proposals do not warrant further scrutiny, namely, COM (2018) 517, which is a proposal on a decision on signing an agreement between the EU and China on measures affecting tariff concessions on certain poultry products, and COM (2018) 518, a proposed decision on the conclusion of the agreement between the EU and China on tariff concessions on certain poultry meat products. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The next item, COM (2018) 533, is a proposal on the regulation for quantitative limitations for buying in skimmed milk powder. It is proposed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny by way of requesting a briefing from the Department officials on the current situation in this milk product market and the potential impacts. Is that agreed? Agreed.

It is proposed that items listed on Schedule B, COM (2018) 453; COM (2018) 454; COM (2018) 499; COM (2018) 500; COM (2018) 502; COM (2018) 503; COM (2018) 505; COM (2018) 514; and COM (2018) 515 do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I propose that we suspend briefly to allow the witnesses to take their seats.

Sitting suspended at 4.35 p.m. and resumed at 4.36 p.m.
