As members know, unfortunately our previous clerk to the committee, Sandra Hogan, has passed away. Her funeral was yesterday evening and this morning. I wish to state a few words on behalf of the committee.
I am sure members wish to join me in paying tribute to the late Sandra Hogan. I was shocked when I received the telephone call on Sunday last to tell me Sandra had passed away the previous evening. Sandra spent approximately eight months working with the joint committee and was deeply involved in our second report on the reforms of the Irish insurance market and in our report on the impact of grocery multiples in the grocery retail market on small grocery retailers and suppliers. She brought many excellent qualities to her work with the joint committee before her illness.
Prior to working with the joint committee Sandra had worked with the Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Service since her arrival in Leinster House. She had worked at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. During her years here she had made many friends among her work colleagues and she also built up an excellent working relationship with Members. Sandra will be missed by all her colleagues in the Houses of the Oireachtas. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Chris, her daughters, Sophie, Sarah and Stephanie, her mother, brothers and sisters and many friends. On behalf of the joint committee, I extend our deepest sympathy on the loss of Sandra. May she rest in peace.
