Messages to Dáil and Seanad.

In accordance with Standing Order 87, the following message will be sent to the Dáil:

The Joint Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women's Rights has completed its consideration of the following motion:

That Dáil Éireann approves the exercise by the State of the option or discretion provided by Article 3 of the fourth protocol set out in the Treaty of Amsterdam to notify the President of the Council that it wishes to take part in the adoption and application of the following proposed measures,

(i) a proposal for regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the establishment of Eurodac for the comparison of fingerprints for the effective application of a regulation establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the member state responsible for examining the application for international protection lodged in one of the member states by a third country national or a stateless person;

(ii) a proposal for regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the member state responsible for examining an application for international protection lodged in one of the member states by a third country national or a stateless person,

copies of which proposed measures were laid before Dáil Éireann on 5 January 2009.

In accordance with Seanad Standing Order 72, the following message will be sent to the Seanad:
