Section 79 re-enacts in principle the present law, that is, section 263 of the 1857 Act which empowers the court to disallow in whole or in part any debt which has already been proved or admitted. It extends the existing section by allowing the bankrupt or the arranging debtor to apply to have a debt disallowed. At present only the Official Assignee or a creditor can do so.
