Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen debate -
Thursday, 19 Sep 2024

Business of Joint Committee

I welcome you all to our public meeting this afternoon. Apologies have been received from Deputy Richard O'Donoghue and Senator Gerard Craughwell.

First on the agenda is the approval of minutes of previous meetings. The first item on our agenda is the minutes of the meetings of 10 and 11 July 2024. They already have been approved in virtual private meetings but we must do this for procedural reasons. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I would like to read some formal notices. I remind members of the constitutional requirements that members must be physically present within the confines of the place which Parliament has chosen to sit, namely, Leinster House, in order to participate in public meetings. I will not permit a member to participate where he or she is not adhering to this constitutional requirement. Therefore, any member who attempts to participate from outside the precincts will be asked to leave the meeting.
