I am aware of the upcoming Westminster elections, in which a number of members of this committee are involved; hence their absence today. On behalf of myself and all my colleagues I wish all the outgoing members and candidates who are not yet members every success in that election. We all know how tough elections are and we wish them every success. We hope the candidates will do themselves, their parties and organisations proud.
I remind members and those in the Visitors Gallery to ensure that all mobile phones and BlackBerrys are completely switched off for the duration of the meeting as they cause interference, even on silent mode, with the recording equipment in committee rooms.
