Business of Joint Committee

Vice Chairman

As the Chairman, Deputy Kathleen Funchion, is indisposed, she has asked me to chair today's meeting in my capacity as Vice Chairman. Apologies have been received from Deputy Funchion as well as Deputies Fergus O'Dowd, Sean Sherlock and Maureen O'Sullivan and Senators Denis Landy and Gerard Craughwell. Apologies have also been received from Margaret Richie, MP, and Mark Durkan, MP. I welcome Mr. Pat Doherty, MP, to the meeting.

Today the committee will examine cross-Border co-operation on road infrastructure. There will be two sessions. During the first session, we will hear from the representatives of Monaghan County Council, Donegal County Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Derry City and Strabane District Council. In our second session we will hear from the representatives from Louth County Council and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

I propose that we go into private session to consider a number of housekeeping items. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The joint committee went into private session at 2.20 p.m. and resumed in public session at 2.40 p.m.
