Joint Committee on the Secondary Legislation of the European Communities debate -
Thursday, 9 Dec 1976

Proposed Amendments of Directives on the Reform of Agriculture.

Members of the Committee have before them the draft report. As this has been dealt with exhaustively in subcommittee, I take it that the report is acceptable unless any member wishes to comment on any particular aspect. Members will see that our principal recommendation is that this question should be debated in both Houses. Our view in the sub-committee was that as this matter is of such general interest and of all-party interest and that as there is so much agricultural politics involved, the best thing we can do as a Committee is to recommend that it be fully discussed in both Houses. I take it that members agree with this?

Paragraphs 1 to 5, inclusive, agreed to.

Draft Report agreed to.

Ordered: To report accordingly.
