The first item is the election of a Vice-Chairman. Senator Eoin Ryan has been discharged from the Committee at his own request because he has taken up the Chairmanship of another very important committee and he is unable to continue in his post of Vice-Chairman. He has been a very useful and valuable member of this Committee and we are sorry he has had to take this decision. I will take nominations for Vice-Chairman.

I propose Deputy Noonan. As Chairman you have ensured that the job of Vice-Chairman has been very light. You have been excellent in your attendance at this Committee.

I should like a change in the terminology. Because of the description of the post, Senator Harney would be disqualified.
I think we would not stick on technicalities of that kind. The question is "That Deputy Noonan be elected Vice-Chairman".
