Business of Joint Committee (Resumed)

I remind members to turn off their mobile phones completely as they interfere with recording equipment. Before we commence our main business I will turn to correspondence No. 2018/352, which is a letter dated 6 November from the Taxi Dispatch Operators Representative Association, TDORA, stating that it would like to make a presentation to the joint committee to brief members on the extraordinary changes that have taken place in the provision of taxi-type services worldwide to show why significant changes need to be made to the Taxi Regulations Act 2013 and to outline the changes in regulations it would like to see. I propose to consider this as part of our work programme. Agreed? Agreed.

No. 2018/353 is an email dated 9 November from Aileen Fallon, clerk of the Joint Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, concerning the launch of a report on tackling childhood obesity which is being held on Thursday, 15 November at 10 a.m. Members may wish to attend. It is fine if they do.

No. 2018/354 is an email dated 9 November from Michelle Carpenter concerning a possible upcoming committee meeting at the National Rowing Centre in Cork organised by our Vice Chairman. We will make sure that happens when we visit Cork, which I hope will be soon.

No. 2018/355 is from Hugh Creegan of the National Transport Authority concerning phase one of the BusConnects core bus corridors project and the publication of the emerging preferred routes for four of the 16 previously launched routes. There was a briefing this morning to inform Members about it. I hope we will have a hearing down the road, whenever members wish.
