Vol. 1 No. 21

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY (COMPENSATION) BILL, 1923—FIFTH STAGE.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

The first business on the Order Paper is the consideration on the Fifth or Final Stage of the Damage to Property (Compensation) Bill, 1923.

Motion made and question proposed: "That this Bill do now pass."

I would like to congratulate the Government on the fair and straight way in which they have dealt with the people concerned under this Bill. I have had long experience of Government actions in these matters, and the people whom this Bill is mostly meant for have always been swindled by Governments across the water. At last we have come to a Government that has treated us very fairly and endeavoured to meet us in every possible way. I would therefore like to add my testimony to them.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

Perhaps I may be allowed also to congratulate the Government on the exceedingly artistic and careful way in which this Bill has been drafted It is a great credit to the draftsman, because it was a most complicated matter dealing with a great variety of legislation, and its draftsmanship was very concise and very artistic.

Question put and agreed to.
