Vol. 3 No. 16

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - DUBLIN UNITED TRAMWAYS BILL, 1924—SECOND STAGE.

I beg to move:—

"That the Bill to authorise the Dublin United Tramways Company, 1896, to maintain omnibus services, be read a second time."

I beg to oppose it, sir.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

The date of the Second Reading has now to be automatically fixed. I will not fix the date until we see what progress we make to-day. I do not know whether we will sit to-morrow. If we have to sit to-morrow I think to-morrow would be a convenient date to take it.

Perhaps it would be convenient if I mentioned that it is not the intention of the Joint Committee on Standing Orders actually to nominate the Committees in any of the Private Bills which have been referred to Special Committees, until the Oireachtas re-assembles in the Autumn. We felt technically that while we should propose the Second Reading as there is no intention of these Committees sitting now, it would be a mistake to actually nominate them.

Question deferred.
