Vol. 4 No. 16

LOCAL GOVERNMENT BILL, 1924. - BUSINESS OF THE SEANAD.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I want to say with regard to the state of business in the Seanad, that I find it will be necessary for us to meet next week, and for this reason: that there is a Bill, which will probably go through all its stages in the Dáil to-day, and which, if passed, has to come into operation before Easter. I refer to the Summer Time Bill. Consequently, it will be necessary for the Seanad to meet next week to deal with that Bill. We will not meet to-morrow, but what I suggest is that we meet on Wednesday next at 3 o'clock.

I suggest it would be desirable that we should put the Local Government Bill through all its stages here to-day.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

As far as we are concerned, we are finished with the Local Government Bill. We put it through all its stages to-day.

I think that on the last occasion we met we decided that we would fix a date to-day for the discussion of the Joint Committee's report with reference to matrimonial matters.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

Shall we fix Wednesday next for the discussion of that report?

I move:—"That the report of the Joint Committee be discussed at the first meeting of the Seanad held after the Easter adjournment."

I second.

Question put and agreed to.
The Seanad adjourned at 4.5 p.m. until Wednesday, March 25th, 1925, at 3 p.m.
