Vol. 6 No. 1

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - STANDING ORDERS—MESSAGE FROM THE DAIL.

CATHAOIRLEACH

Senators will see from the Order Paper that a message has been received from the Dáil. That was in reply to a message from this House. No action requires to be taken on it: it just merely requires to be recorded. The following is the message:—

Dáil Eireann has this day amended Standing Orders Nos. 41 and 114 of the Standing Orders relative to Private Business as follows:—

By deleting in Standing Order No. 41 the words "may elect, during the two years next following the date of passing of these Orders by both Houses to" in lines 1, 2, 3 and 4, and substituting therefor the words "may, whenever the exigencies of the case require it and with the consent in writing of the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Standing Orders."

By deleting in Standing Order No. 114 all the words from the word "of" in line 3 to the end of the Order, and substituting therefor the words "Private Bill Costs Act, 1924 (No. 52 of 1924). Such officer shall be appointed by the Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil and the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad jointly who shall also appoint a person or persons to act as taxing officer or taxing officers, if, for any cause, he shall be unable to act."

—20º Mi na Samhna, 1925.
