Vol. 10 No. 9

PUBLIC BUSINESS. - BODIES CORPORATE (EXECUTORS) BILL, 1928—FIRST STAGE.

I ask for leave to introduce "a Bill entitled an Act to enable grants of probate of the wills of deceased persons to be made to bodies corporate." It is not usual, in asking for leave to introduce a Bill for the first time, to elaborate it but I would say briefly that this is a short Bill, largely for the purpose of allowing an individual to appoint a corporation as executor, and, if appointed, to give them power to extract probate. I should have said that I have on the back of the Bill, as provided by the Standing Orders, the names of Senators Brown and Dowdall.

I second.

Leave given to introduce Bill.

Bill read a First Time.

Ordered: That the Bill be printed.
