PUBLIC BUSINESS. - GAS REGULATION BILL, 1928—THIRD STAGE.

CATHAOIRLEACH

There are several amendments of which notice has been given for this stage. In regard to the more important of them, I understand that the matters dealt with are to be the subject of a conference between the Minister in charge of the Bill and Senators concerned with the amendments. I also understand as regards one further amendment that the Government desire time to consider how they are to deal with it. Therefore, I think nothing would be gained by taking the Committee Stage of the Bill to-day, so that it is better to adjourn it until the next day we meet. That is the desire of the Government and Senators concerned in the amendments.

Is it suggested that the Committee Stage should be adjourned or passed, and that the amendments be put down for the Report Stage?

CATHAOIRLEACH

A simple way would be if the House agreed to take the Committee Stage to-day and to let the amendments stand over for consideration on the Report Stage. That would advance the Bill. I take it that the House agrees to the Committee Stage, on the understanding that amendments which have been tabled are to be taken into consideration on the Report Stage?

Bill put through Committee without amendment and ordered to be reported.
