Vol. 12 No. 4

Private Business. - Bank of Ireland Bill, 1929—Message from the Dáil.

Cathaoirleach

Dáil Eireann has passed the following Resolution:—

That the Dáil concur with the Seanad in their Resolution communicated to the Dáil the 10th April, 1929, that it is expedient that a Joint Committee of both Houses be appointed to consider the Bank of Ireland Bill, 1929.

I move:—

"That the Bank of Ireland Bill, 1929, be referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses."

Question put and agreed to.

Cathaoirleach

A motion has been handed in by Senator Hooper that in the event of there being business for Friday the Seanad should meet at 12 o'clock. That motion will be on the Order Paper to-morrow for discussion.

Can an amendment be moved to substitute 11 for 12 o'clock?

Cathaoirleach

I am afraid it would be too late now. Notice should have been handed in before 11 o'clock to-day.

What opportunity was there of handing in an amendment in regard to a motion which is only made public at 3 o'clock?

Cathaoirleach

When the matter arises I will try to explain.

Will it be possible to move an amendment without notice when the matter is being discussed?

Cathaoirleach

I think it might be moved without notice. I am not going to decide it now.
