Vol. 12 No. 13

Legal Practitioners (Qualification) Bill, 1928.

Cathaoirleach

We have had a telegram from Senator Milroy saying that it is impossible for him to attend to-day, and that he would like to have the Legal Practitioners Bill postponed.

Because there is an election?

Cathaoirleach

I have no knowledge of the reason, but he said he cannot be here. It is for the House to decide whether they will take it or not. He was one of the great protagonists, and the other was Senator Brown.

I would be quite willing to have it postponed: I would be very sorry to interfere with the Senator's convenience.

I do not want to push the Bill when the Senator is not here, but I presume the Senator knew yesterday, being at the Sligo Election, that he would not be here to-day, and if we had that information yesterday we might not have met at all to-day. I think it is rather trifling with the House.

I am not sure that that is quite right, because I had an arrangement with Senator Milroy to meet me to-day before the Seanad met so that we might agree to the wording of our amendments. We are practically agreed on the amendments.

Cathaoirleach

It is for the House to decide. I think Senator Milroy agreed to a postponement previously, on the suggestion of Senator Brown.

Ordered that the Report Stage of the Bill be taken on Wednesday, June 12th.
The Seanad adjourned at 3.32 p.m.
