Vol. 13 No. 6

Electricity Agreements (Adaptation) Bill, 1929—Second Stage.

Order for Second Reading read.

I move that this Bill be now read a second time. The necessity for it has arisen because when the Cork electricity undertaking was being established an agreement was come to between the promoters and the Cork Corporation that in the event of any dispute which might arise with reference to charges the matter was to be referred to the Minister of Transport. There is no Minister of Transport, and this Bill seeks to substitute the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, so that an arbitration may be held and a decision may be given with regard to the charges.

I beg to second the motion.

Question put and agreed to. Committee Stage ordered for tomorrow.
