Vol. 14 No. 22

Betting Bill, 1930.

Cathaoirleach

I have an announcement to make to the House regarding the Betting Bill, 1930, which appears on to-day's Order Paper for the Report Stage. The Minister has an amendment which he wishes to move dealing with the question of football betting, which was the subject of amendments tabled by Senator Johnson for the Committee Stage. Unfortunately, the Minister was unable to let the Clerk have his amendment within the time prescribed by the Standing Orders, i.e., before 4 p.m. on Monday last, and, in the circumstances, the Minister has asked me to ask the House to agree to the postponement of the Report Stage of the Bill until next Wednesday. Is that agreed?

I was hoping that the House would not meet next Wednesday.

Cathaoirleach

Then we can postpone the Report Stage until the next day of meeting.

How will that work out if we meet to-morrow?

Cathaoirleach

I do not think that we shall meet to-morrow.

Second Stage of Betting Bill postponed until next sitting.
