Vol. 15 No. 17

Public Business. - Constitution (Removal of Oath) Bill, 1932—Report Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be received for final consideration."

I wish to propose the following amendment:—Title. To delete the words "and also the Constitution of the Irish Free State (Saorstát Eireann) Act, 1922."

What about the other amendments? The amendments inserted in Committee have to be put to the House.

Cathaoirleach

No, that is not so.

This amendment is merely consequential upon the deletion of Section 2 of the Bill as introduced and therefore requires no elaborate argument. I therefore beg to propose it now.

I beg to second.

We intend to contest this amendment not because of any real effect on the Bill, and though it may seem anomalous to oppose it, but on account of the attitude taken up on the Committee Stage.

Amendment put.
