Vol. 17 No. 28

Dangerous Drugs Bill, 1933—Committee.

Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 agreed to.
SECTION 5.

I move amendment No. 1:—

To delete the section.

The reason for this amendment is that I gave an undertaking to Senator Sir Edward Coey Bigger on the last stage, and I think this amendment will meet his wishes.

On the last day, during the Second Reading, I suggested three matters which I asked the Minister to consider. He has very kindly considered them and he has made amendments to two of them which, I think, fully meet the case. As regards the third, it is not anticipated that any difficulty will arise and therefore I think the Minister has met the point very fairly.

Amendment put and agreed to.

I move amendment No. 2:—

Section 31, sub-section (1). After the word "Síochána" in line 11, to insert the words "not below the rank of sergeant".

This amendment meets Senator Sir Edward Coey Bigger's suggestion on the other stage.
