Vol. 18 No. 16

Business of the Seanad.

I expect some of the Ministers concerned will be here in a few moments. In the meantime, with the permission of the House, I will endeavour to get the Minister for Industry and Commerce, who is engaged in the Dáil, to take the Road Transport Bill.

Cathaoirleach

I regret extremely the delay that has occurred to-day in proceeding with the Bills on the Order Paper. The Clerk was informed that it was the desire of the Government to take the Town and Regional Planning Bill, and the Local Services (Temporary Economies) (No. 2) Bill, and for that purpose I arranged with Mr. Lemass to postpone his Bills in order to facilitate the Vice-President. Only that I received such information I would not have proposed to go on with the Town and Regional Planning Bill. It is not Mr. Lemass's fault that he is not here, in view of the arrangement I made. The position now is that the Minister for Lands has been good enough to try to get some of the Ministers. I can assure the House that this will not occur again, as I will go straight on with the business unless some Minister is here to make arrangements which will be satisfactory.

Perhaps we have enough time to deal with them yet. We do not sit frequently.
