Vol. 18 No. 31

Business of the Seanad.

Cathaoirleach

Through the courtesy of the Minister for Lands, I have received from the President's Department a list of the Bills which the Government require to be passed into law before the summer recess. The list is divided into two Parts: Part I, which consists of Bills at present in progress in the Dáil, and Part II, which consists of Bills not yet introduced. I shall read the list to the House.

PART I.

1. Control of Manufactures Bill.

2. Electricity Supply (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill.

3. Shannon Fisheries Bill.

4. Dairy Produce (Amendment) Bill.

5. Creamery (Amendment) Bill.

6. Agricultural Co-operative Societies Bill.

7. Tobacco Bill.

8. Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Bill.

9. Limerick City Management Bill.

10. Criminal Law Amendment Bill.

11. Public Dance Halls Bill.

PART II.

12. Cattle Bill.

13. Cereals Bill.

14. Bacon Bill.

15. Industrial Alcohol Bill.

16. Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill.

There are thus 16 Bills, and the Government anticipate that they will all have been passed by the Dáil by the second week in August at latest. I should imagine that the Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill will be certified as a Money Bill, but, if one may judge by their titles, I do not think that any of the others will be so certified. I shall ask the Government to meet the convenience of the Seanad by delaying the Fifth Stage of any Bill which is likely to be certified as a Money Bill until the last day on which the Dáil sits before they adjourn for the summer; and I ask the House now to make an order that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in Standing Order No. 97, we shall not meet after this week until Wednesday, 22nd August, which is the date already agreed upon.

Agreed.
