Vol. 18 No. 31

Vice-President's Bereavement.

Cathaoirleach

Senators will recollect that last Thursday I explained to the House that the Vice-President was unable to be present owing to the illness of his wife. It is with the deepest regret that I have to announce to the House that I have just learned that Mrs. O'Kelly passed away this morning in Germany. I am sure that Senators will join with me in extending our deepest sympathy to Mr. O'Kelly in his great sorrow, and also to Mrs. O'Kelly's brother, Dr. Ryan, the Minister for Agriculture. No words could adequately convey my regret on their bereavement. I shall ask Senators to stand in their places as a mark of our respect to the memory of the late Mrs. O'Kelly.

Senators stood in their places.
