Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 20 Feb 1935

Vol. 19 No. 16

Public Business. - The Adjournment.

With regard to our next meeting, I observe from the Dáil Order Paper that it is probable that to-morrow or on Friday the Local Government (Extension of Franchise) Bill, 1933, and the Local Government (Dublin) Bill, 1933. will be again sent to us under Article 38a of the Constitution, the suspensory period of 18 months having expired in both cases. I do not think we are likely to receive any other business. In the circumstances I should like to take the opinion of the House as to whether we should meet next Wednesday in order to consider these two Bills or whether it would not be better to adjourn till Wednesday week, when we may have other work as well. What does the House think?

It would seem to me, Sir, subject to correction, that there is no urgency about the Bills.

There is no great urgency, Senator, and they could be dealt with on Wednesday week, when we may have more work.

The House agreed to the suggestion to adjourn until Wednesday week.

The Seanad adjourned at 6.15 p.m., till Wednesday, 6th March, at 3 p.m.
