Vol. 20 No. 6

Business of the Seanad.

Leas-Chathaoirleach

Senators have the Orders of the Day before them and will see that there are three items — the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Bill, the Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill and the Finance Bill. As the Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill and the Finance Bill have been received from the Dáil it was necessary, under Standing Order 97, that they should appear on the Order Paper for to-day. It was not anticipated that either of these Bills would come before the Seanad this week and therefore I thought it would hardly be fair to members of the Seanad that they should be debated at such short notice. I accordingly communicated my views to the Minister for Finance, who agrees that the consideration of the Bills should be postponed until Wednesday next. I am sure the House will approve of this.

Agreed.
