I have to acquaint the House that on the 28th May I received the following letter from the Secretary to the Government:—
"27adh Bealtaine, 1938.
An Cathaoirleach,
Seanad Eireann.
A Chara,
I have to inform you that on the 27th instant the Commission constituted under Article 57 of the Constitution to exercise the powers and functions of the President of Ireland, acting on the advice of the Taoiseach pursuant to Section 2 of Article 13 of the Constitution, dissolved Dáil Eireann on the 27th day of May, 1938, declared a general election for members of Dáil Eireann, and summoned and called together Dáil Eireann to meet in the City of Dublin on Thursday, 30th June, 1938, at the hour of 3 o'clock in the afternoon for the despatch of such business as may be submitted to it.
