Vol. 22 No. 23

Public Business. - Business of the Seanad.

Perhaps it would be possible to obtain some indication of the business that will come before the Seanad. It has been announced in the Press that the Dáil is likely to adjourn at an early date, and it might be of help to Senators if the Chair would give some indication as to how many Bills are to be considered. In the normal way it might take four or five weeks for a Bill to go through all its stages properly. I do not want to press this matter now, but perhaps we could be given an indication of the business that has to be considered— possibly when we meet again.

Three Bills have been received from the Dáil to-day, namely, the Appropriation Bill, the Imposition of Duties Bill and the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Bill. We shall have those three next week.

Could there be any indication as to which of the other Bills will be finished and sent to us? It may be that some will not be finished this session. I am not expecting that we will get an answer to that now, but it has been usual to try to obtain that information from the Minister or some leading Government supporters.

We may have some definite information next week for the Senator.

I understand that information will be available before the next sitting.

Before next Wednesday?
