Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 13 Dec 1939

Vol. 24 No. 3

Public Business. - Irish Currency and Sterling—Motion.

The following motion stood on the Order Paper:—
That Seanad Eireann would welcome a statement of policy by the Government regarding the Irish currency and its connection with sterling.—Senators MacDermot and Tierney.

I should like to say that I am postponing the introduction of the motion standing in my name and in that of Senator Tierney in order to accommodate the Minister for Finance and not because of any unwillingness to deal with the matter forthwith so far as we are concerned. In the circumstance I understand it will not be taken until the Seanad meets again after the Christmas recess.
