Vol. 28 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

Leas-Chathaoirleach

I understand there have been some conversations in regard to the desirability of finishing the business to-night, or in the alternative sitting to-morrow.

I do not see any reason why we could not finish to-night. There is no reason why we should come here to-morrow if we make up our minds to finish the business to-night. I think that would meet with the wishes of the whole House.

Having regard to the small amount of time left, and the amount of work which has to be got through, we feel that it is hardly likely that we shall be able to finish to-night. If it were the opinion of the House that we should sit to-morrow and finish the business, we would be prepared to meet at 10.30, or at any other time to finish the business.

We should like to finish the business to-night if there is any chance of finishing it, but if there is no probability of our finishing it, I suppose we shall have to meet to-morrow. The question is what time we should meet to-morrow.

Leas-Chathaoirleach

We shall wait until 8.30, and then we shall be in a better position to come to a decision on the matter.

I hope that the Chair will bear in mind that we want to finish to-night.

Leas-Chathaoirleach

It is not for the Chair to advocate any particular line of action.
