Vol. 34 No. 9

Resignation of Senator.

It is with the very greatest regret I communicate to the House a letter from Senator Parkinson resigning his membership of the Seanad. The following is the letter:—

"Maddenstown Lodge,

Curragh Camp,

County Kildare.

30th July, 1947.

Dear Cathaoirleach,

I regret, owing to ill health, it has become impossible for me to attend meetings of the Seanad. In the circumstances, therefore, I am sorry that I have no option but to tender to you this my resignation.

May I take this opportunity of thanking you, my old colleagues during my long association with the House, and the Officers of the House for the kindness, consideration and courtesy that were shown to me at all times.

Yours sincerely,

(sgd.) Jas. J. Parkinson."

An Cathaoirleach,

Seanad Éireann.

On behalf of all members, I express to our former colleague our regrets at the circumstances which have necessitated his decision and our best wishes for his speedy restoration to health.
