Vol. 39 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper except the motions, Nos. 5, 6 and 7, which will not be taken to-day. No. 2, the Fisheries (Consolidation) Bill, Second Stage, is a formality, as under our Standing Orders the Bill will be referred to a standing committee without a debate on the Second Stage.

Is there any possibility that these motions would ever be taken? They are on the paper now for a couple of years.

The Chair cannot answer that.

It would be better not to have them there and let us know where we are.

Mr. Hayes

It is very unfortunate that the Parliamentary Secretary— who is now in charge of the Department of Industry and Commerce during the illness of the Minister—is in the Dáil to-day on the Supplies and Services Bill. If he were available, two motions, Nos. 5 and 6, could be taken. Motion No. 7 can be taken when, next week, we hope to have the Vocational Education (Amendment) Bill, and the Minister for Education will be present.

As mover of two of these motions, I would like to say that I am prepared to take them any time I get the opportunity of having a Minister here.
