Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 23 Jun 1954

Vol. 43 No. 12

Next Meeting.

Might I ascertain, Sir, from the Leader, if he could give any indication as to the date of the next meeting of the Seanad, which will probably be the last one?

I would like, first of all, to congratulate the Minister for Finance on his first appearance here in his Ministerial capacity.

With regard to the next meeting of the House, this Seanad, or a Seanad, must pass the Finance Bill and an Appropriation Bill before 31st July. As to when we will meet for these matters I would not be able to say, as that depends entirely on when the Dáil passes the Bills, but it is worth mentioning that we cannot meet on 14th or 15th July because, during these days, there will be no Seanad capable of taking any legislative action. One would hope to get the Finance Bill by July 7th. Whether that can be realised, I do not know, but there must be a meeting for the Finance Bill and the Appropriation Bill.

The Seanad Adjourned sine die at 3.22 p.m.
