Vol. 45 No. 4

Order of Business.

Business will be taken as on the Order Paper except that the motions will not be taken.

On a point of order. I am not quite sure whether, in making a point of personal explanation, I am in order at this juncture. I understood it had to be introduced before the Order of Business: perhaps I am wrong. It is not a long thing, but it is a matter I should like to clear up.

Has the Senator given any notice to the Cathaoirleach?

I have had no notice whatever of this. The Senator should have given me notice.

Am I, therefore, out of order?

It is customary for the Chair to get notice of intention to raise a matter.

Am I to take it that I may not make the point of explanation now?

Would it not be more appropriate for the Senator to make the point of explanation when we reach the discussion which was adjourned last night?

I think it would, if I would be permitted to do it.

It is customary for Senators to give notice to the Chair of their intention to raise a matter such as this.

I apologise for not having done so.
