Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 2 Aug 1956

Vol. 46 No. 10

Appropriation Bill, 1956—Motion for Earlier Signature.

I move:—

That, pursuant to sub-section 20 of Section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Eireann concur with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Appropriation Bill, 1956, on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to him.

This is a motion for earlier signature. This Bill is usually concluded by the Seanad by the end of July and, in the circumstances, it requires to be signed to-morrow, instead of waiting to be signed in accordance with the terms of the Constitution. I am therefore moving this motion for its earlier signature.

Question put and agreed to.
