Vol. 48 No. 1

Imposition of Duties Bill, 1957—Committee and Final Stages.

Sections 1 to 4, inclusive, agreed to.
Question proposed: "That Section 5 stand part of the Bill."

I think it should be said that this is a wonderful Bill in so far as this is the only reference —to the old Act—to other legislation in it. I think it is the first Bill I have ever seen that has no reference in it.

That is right.

Question put and agreed to.
Sections 6 and 7 agreed to.
Title agreed to.
Bill reported without recommendation and received for final consideration.
Question proposed: "That the Bill be returned to the Dáil."

The Minister said he would give us an opportunity, when legislation is introduced in the Oireachtas, to review industrial policy. I should like to suggest that he might initiate some of the legislation in this House. That would give us an opportunity of dealing with these matters very fully and it might be of help to him. I would ask him to consider the matter when considering the legislation he is putting forward.

Question put and agreed to.
