Vol. 68 No. 12

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 and 2.

Miss Bourke

May I ask the Leader of the House if we are to meet tomorrow morning to take a motion?

There has been some difficulty with regard to business. It is possible that we may meet tomorrow morning when we would possibly take No. 5 on the Order Paper. However, I cannot tell the Senator for certain until later this evening. I had hoped that we would be able to take a motion and the only one available was No. 5. We had expected to get the Social Welfare Bill today but it has been held up in the Dáil. We expect to get it some time tomorrow evening. It is necessary that this Bill be passed this week because the payments must be made on 29th of this month. We had also expected to have the Finance Bill tomorrow but that, too, has been delayed. So until after tea, I am not in a position to inform the Senator what will be the programme.

Miss Bourke

I appreciate the efforts made by the Leader of the House. Could he tell me if it will be impossible also for the Minister for Education to come to the House to discuss the Report of the Commission on Higher Education? This is a very important report.

I have done what I could.
