Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 29 Jul 1970

Vol. 68 No. 16

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2 and 6 in that order and to resume No. 3 at 2.30 p.m.

Perhaps we could be told whether it is proposed today to take any of the motions on the Order Paper.

It is not proposed to take motions.

Is it the Government's intention to leave those motions on the Order Paper during the Summer Recess?

That can be discussed before the Seanad adjourns for the vacation and if the House feels like sitting into August to discuss motions, that can be done.

I know it is difficult to arrange motions at this stage but the Common Market motion is a most important one and if it were possible to take it immediately on the resumption in October and to devote a couple of days to it, it would be a worthwhile exercise and would be a great public service.

I think that is a proposal we should consider.
