I think it is as well that we should be quite clear that when, following a First Reading, a date is fixed for the Second Stage, it is in no way mandatory for the House to take the Second Stage on the day so fixed.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make better provision for the enforcement of the obligation on the father of an illegitimate child to contribute to the support or otherwise in respect of such child and for that purpose to amend the Illegitimate Children (Affiliation Orders), Act, 1930 and to amend the law relating to the succession to property rights of deceased persons by illegitimate children and other persons whose relationship is traced through an illegitimate link.
