Seanad Éireann debate -
Tuesday, 10 Jun 1975

Vol. 81 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

It is proposed to resume the Committee Stage of the Criminal Law (Jurisdiction) Bill on Tuesday, 17th June.

We are not concerned with when the debate should be resumed. We are concerned with the adjournment of the House.

I wish the Government could order their business in some coherent way so that we might know from minute to minute what we are supposed to be doing.

I think I am correct in saying that I personally indicated to Senator Yeats today that we would not be taking this Bill tomorrow.

(Interruptions).

The Seanad has not been adjourned. The Chair is prepared to hear an orderly debate on the question of the adjournment.

I accept that the Leader of the House may have intended to convey that we would not be taking the Bill tomorrow. What he conveyed to me, however, was that after finishing the Broadcasting Bill tomorrow we would take up this Bill again. It seems we will not, so can the Leader of the House give any indication what we will be dealing with tomorrow?

Senator Yeats will recall that it was announced last week we would be taking the Broadcasting Bill tomorrow. It is intended to do that. I do not know whether we will finish it or not. If it is not finished, then presumably it will occupy the whole day tomorrow. If it is finished, depending on the time factor, we can fit in the Air Navigation Bill as well.

What about Thursday?

Racing Day.

The Seanad adjourned at 10.10 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 11th June, 1975.
