Vol. 96 No. 11

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take item No. 1 and by agreement to adjourn at 1 p.m.

In connection with motions Nos. 7 and 8 on the Order Paper, we were given to understand yesterday that legal action was pending in connection with the matter under dispute. I can state definitely that legal action has not been taken so far on these matters.

It is obvious that in relation to motions Nos. 7 and 8 the Government are deciding to kick for touch and I believe that the Minister and the Government are going to give out some kind of soft pupil/teacher ratio and reduce the figures of 28 to 25.

The Senator may not go into the substance of a motion on the Order of Business. She may just ask a question as to when it can be taken.

Perhaps I am just telling the House what the Minister may tell the INTO next week.

I should like to know when these motions are to be taken as I understand that legislation is intimated but not initiated as we were led to believe.

Regarding motions Nos. 7 and 8, all I can say to the House is that the situation has not changed since yesterday afternoon.

Order of Business agreed to.
