Vol. 98 No. 5

National Heritage Bill, 1982: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision with respect to the national heritage and for that purpose to establish a council to be known in the Irish language as Comhairle na hOidhreachta Náisiúnta and in the English language as the National Heritage Council and to define its functions and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.

I move: "That the Second Stage be ordered for Wednesday, 30 June 1982."

This Bill has been introduced into this House and for that we are thankful. It is a Bill that has been long awaited and accordingly is one that will require a good deal of consideration by this House. Next week is a little early for the taking of this Bill. If the exigencies do demand this, I take it that what is being proposed is that only the Second Stage would be taken next week and that there would be an opportunity of considering many of the important matters in more detail for Committee Stage at a later time.

Question put and agreed to.
