Vol. 104 No. 10

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. It is proposed to break from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. It is hoped that we would complete Nos. 1, 2 and 3 and that provided these three have been disposed of we shall not sit later than 5 p.m. With regard to No. 5, as I indicated previously, the subject matter is essentially the same as that of No. 4 and the proposal is that, when No. 4 is disposed of, No. 5 should be moved and agreed without debate.

So it is intended to take all Stages of the Landlord and Tenant Bill and the Irish Steel (Amendment) Bill today.

I have had no indication of any amendment on the Landlord and Tenant Bill. If there are amendments we could have discussions then as to whether it would be better to take them later today or next week. In regard to the Irish Steel Bill, again there has been no indication of amendments. The principle of the Bill seems very clear. The sections are not complex. My hope is that all Stages of these two Bills could be taken. Of course, I had hopes yesterday that were not realised.

There has been a series of comments here about something that was said in the other House to do with the burning of a flag——

That is completely out of order.

I would ask for protection, a Chathaoirligh, as a Member of this House who was dreadfully misrepresented in the other House, to have my position defended and I would like to inquire from you as to how I can defend my position and stay in order.

I shall discuss the matter with you in private.

Order of Business agreed to.
